Meeting WTO Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala at WEF 2026

It was another valuable opportunity for me to meet one of the world’s most influential female leaders at the World Economic Forum 2026 - Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO).
As the first woman and the first African to lead the WTO, she has played a highly visible and impactful role on the global stage. Her work spans international finance and global trade, with particular emphasis on landmark fisheries agreements aimed at ending illegal fishing and promoting the sustainability of the world’s oceans. These efforts represent an important step toward integrating international trade with environmental responsibility."
