Back to School at Harvard's Owner/President Management Program

Back to school!
This time in Boston, I’m enrolled in the Owner/President Management (OPM) program at Harvard Business School. It’s a program I’ve been interested in for a long time, but time constraints prevented me from pursuing it. This year, I felt I didn’t want to delay any longer, so I decided to be strict with myself and make the time.
Looking back, it’s been over 10 years since I last sat in a lecture hall and attended a real class. I have to admit, it felt a little unfamiliar at first, but that unfamiliarity was one of the reasons I came here.
Besides wanting to develop myself as a leader and businessperson, another reason I wanted to return to school was to prepare myself to constantly learn and adapt.
This comes from being in an environment where I can hear new perspectives, meet people with experiences different from my own, and be in a classroom where professors and classmates are willing to question and challenge my thinking whenever I may not be fully aware of something.
Now that I’m actually studying again, I’ve met many classmates with expertise in areas I’m unfamiliar with. Some are skilled in managing world-class organizations, while others have navigated major business crises. Hearing everyone’s perspectives here has made me reflect on how much I still have to learn.
Personally, I believe that after years of constantly moving forward, sometimes we need space to slow down and re-evaluate our mindset, working methods, and ourselves.
This trip to Harvard made me realize something important: growth doesn’t always mean running faster. Sometimes, it means being willing to learn again, even when others think we’ve already come a long way.
